American singer Stacey Kent
broke through in 2001 with her fifth album Dreamsville
. It marked the start of a wonderful musical career. Together with her husband, tenor saxophonist Jim Tomlinson, Kent has produced an impressive body of work. The album Breakfast On The Morning Train
was a commercial and artistic success and put her on the map in the Netherlands. Kent worked with the famous Japanese-born British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro on that album. It garnered a lot of acclaim and celebrity, particularly in France, leading her to record an album completely in French: Raconte-Moi
. Kent continues to develop at a ferocious pace. Having sold over two million albums, she is one of today’s most successful jazz singers. On her latest album, The Changing Lights
, Kent uses her expressive voice in a handful of carefully composed and arranged songs that are an ode to the lifestyle and music of Brazil.
