MaMA

MaMA (Media and Moving Art) is a colorful and idiosyncratic art space in the heart of Rotterdam, located on the vibrant Witte de Withstraat. The exhibitions offer a platform to young talent at the intersection of visual arts and popular culture.

This summer, MaMA’s showroom will be transformed into a wild steppe landscape for the immersive exhibition Threads Of Loss, Patterns Of Return. Creator Arsalan Ishaqzai weaves together stories about uprooting, queerness, and the search for cultural origins; works by emerging artists Sarjon Azouz, Arjîn Elgersma, Maryam Touzani, and Shizhe Qian will be on display.

Also on show at the museum: I wish there was colour, I wish there was sound. WOMXN. More than a muse.

TENT x Collective Wasteland: Out Of Sight

From former harbour laboratory to exhibition space: the new TENT has opened at the Coolhaven. The exhibition Out Of Sight explores the fascinating, often invisible world of waste in the city. Where does our waste actually go, and what happens to it? What worlds are hidden beneath our feet and between our homes?

With detective tools and a good dose of imagination, you will discover hidden waste bins, monstrous fantasy worlds, underground waterfalls and secret pools. An ideal exhibition to visit with children.

BoogieBall

BoogieBall is the now legendary official afterparty of NN North Sea Jazz: artists come to club BIRD to end the evening swinging with a jam session or DJ set. BoogieBall is a collaboration between NN North Sea Jazz, North Sea Round Town and BIRD.

On Friday 11 July, Joe Armon-Jones will lead a jam session together with local artists Bnnyhunna, Deborah Slijkhuis, Peter Somuah and JUNYA. JEWEL, BKK, Phillintheblanks and Lashanti will also make you dance.

On Saturday 12 July, you will see Ghost-Note and continue dancing with and to DJ Turne, Cutnice, MC JR, Stayfun and Don Dev.
