Trumpeter Tom Harrell
is a real musician’s musician. Harrell was born in 1946 and started playing the trumpet at the tender age of eight. After obtaining a degree in Music Composition, he joined Stan Kenton’s band and toured with them until 1969. Afterwards he played with many greats including Woody Herman, Horace Silver, Lee Konitz and The Liberation Orchestra of bassist Charlie Haden. He later worked mainly with his own groups. His latest band is called Colors Of A Dream
, which is also the name of his new album. Harrell’s theme for this project: “We can all learn from our dreams,” as exemplified by the surrealism of Salvador Dalí. Saxophonist Wayne Escoffery
