At the end of last year, the career of Colin Benders alias Kytemantook off like a rocket. His performance at the Noorderslag Festivalin Groningen resulted in countless good reviews for the trumpeterand his large Hiphop Orkest. His debut album The Hermit Sessionswas released this spring and it too was very well received. Kytemanwas raised with jazz, reggae and pop. 'Bitches Brew by Miles Davisis my favorite album. The musical individualism that it exudes isphenomenal.' Before, Kyteman was a member of Dutch pop bands likeVoicst and Relax; he also demonstrated his versatility in theAmsterdam Klezmer Band. His hip-hop orchestra consists of twelvemusicians and eight rappers. 'It's a kind of guild of musicians andMCs that I recruited from the scene in Utrecht where I come from',explains Kyteman.
