can well be regarded as one of the most important jazz icons of our time. His career now spans 40 years in which he has grown into one of the most creative and original personalities who influences the development of jazz. Regardless of the style he plays - whether it is jazz rock, funk of hard bop - Hancock is and remains a pioneer who is not afraid to experiment. This is demonstrated by his meeting with Lang Lang
with whom he performed a rendition of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue
at the 50th Grammy Awards ceremony in 2008. Lang Lang is a superstar of classical music. At the age of only 26 he can choose to perform with any of the most prestigious symphony orchestras in the world. The collaboration o fLang Lang and Hancock has resulted in a unique project in which they both interpret works by Gershwin and Bernstein, among others. They will also perform the Concerto For Two Pianos
by Vaughan Williams together with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen
conducted by John Axelrod.
