When Adele first appeared on British television in 2007, she raiseda veritable storm. Her unpolished and self-conscious presentationwas a breath of fresh air. The then 19-year-old young woman had animmediate connection to all generations. Her voice is majestic and, moreover, despite her youth she is able to write lyrics that moveyoung and old alike. Not surprising that she won two Grammy Awardsearlier this year for her debut album 19. The now 21-year-oldsinger from the London borough of Tottenham says that she finds herinspiration on the streets: 'I come from a family in whichsomething crazy happens every day and that makes life exciting.'She does not want to be compartmentalized as a singer. 'I feelequally at home with jazz as with pop. I truly mean every word Iutter.' In the Netherlands she has already scored two huge hitswith the songs Chasing Pavements and the Bob Dylan cover Make YouFeel My Love. Adele is a rising superstar.
