Turkish born Timuçin Sahin is currently one of the most excitingguitarists on the contemporary jazz scene. With his emotionallycharged pieces, he makes entirely 'individual' compositions thatare difficult to categorize. Sahin left his homeland in 1992 toobtain a master's degree from the conservatories in Amsterdam andHilversum. Nine years later he won his first major prize, the DutchJazz Competition. The 35-year-old fretless, double-neck electricguitar specialist now lives in New York and works there withmusicians like Randy Brecker, Tony Moreno and Mark Turner. He giveslessons at famed music schools throughout the world and hascomposed for the Amsterdam Percussion Group. Sahin is widelyacclaimed for his live performances in which improvisation andcomposed music flow seamlessly into one another. With his quartet,he will put on a virtuoso fusion-jazz show at the North Sea JazzFestival, bursting with classical influences and dark grooves.
