Philip Czarnecki has been playing the guitar since he was eight. That is to say: he had classical guitar lessons, so he strummedcompositions by Pujols, Carcassi and Bach. Five years later hetried playing the electric guitar and, as a teenager, fellhopelessly in love with guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and EricClapton. Yet, that too was only an intermediate phase; this time tomake the step towards jazz music. In Hamburg he was taught for anumber of years by guitarist Sandra Hempel, and after one year atthe 'Hochschule für Musik', he decided to attend the AmsterdamConservatory. There, he met bassist Johannes Felscher and drummerAndreas Klein - a trio was born. They had clear-cut ideas: thethreesome wanted to play in a classical trio formation in whichthere is room for standards, but also for many of their owncompositions. Soon they became successful, because in the mean timethe trio has won the 2008 Prinses Christina Concours. One of theirprizes: performing at this year's North Sea Jazz Festival.
