Just like pianist Aaron Parks, Christian Scott found theinspiration for an album in commemorating the victims of hurricaneKatrina. Not surprising, because the 24-year-old trumpeter grew upin the area that was affected (New Orleans). At the age of 19, thisinnovative jazz artist recorded his first solo album which earnedhim a Grammy Award nomination. He plays around creatively withR&B, soul and hip-hop styles and produces his own individualsound with his trumpet. Last year, Scott released his third albumLive at Newport. This was the first live recording of a musicianwho has in the past worked with such greats as Prince. This year,Scott will be performing fresh, honest, hip fusion jazz at theNorth Sea Jazz Festival for the second time.
