In the Tigris various turntable specialists will play havoc with black dance music (jazz, funk and soul), up-tempo and lounge, laidback jazzy-tunes, forgotten treasures from the archives and mixed hip jazz-dance.
The prestigious jazz label Blue Note has become the home jazz heroes like Art Blakey, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Eric Dolphy grew up in. The label became famous for its inspired, high quality jazz recordings. Martijn Barkhuis, a.k.a. DJ Maestro, compiled various albums under the name Blue Note Trip - compilations with material from the archives of the legendary jazz label. Last year he released, on his own label Dig This!, his first album DJ Maestro & Catch 22. He's working on a new Blue Note Trip.
