Six young jazz and dance musicians unite forces and produce a multicolored mix of musical styles. They set out as a sixties soul jazz band, but gradually the musicians developed their own sound. The Monsieur Dubois sextet digs deep in hard bop history and combine their findings with funk, soul jazz and Afro-grooves. The outcome of all that is what the band call ‘danceable hard jazz’. The debut album Ruff is an exquisite appetizer since the band’s live reputation is even better. In 1999 Monsieur Dubois reached the finals of the Nederlands Jazzconcours, in 2001 the band successfully participated in the Dutch jazz Competition. In the last few years Monsieur Dubois has organized club nights in hometown Rotterdam and Amsterdam, including ‘Blue Beatz’ in Club Blauwe Vis and the ‘Djazzedelic’ nights in Mazzo and Panama.
