New wave of acts and Artist in Residence NN North Sea Jazz 2023

Janelle MonĂ¡e, John McLaughlin's SHAKTI, Seal, Snarky Puppy, and Typhoon have been added to the program. Just as Artist in Residence Esperanza Spalding. She will perform on all festival days with a different project every day.

The American bass player, composer and singer Esperanza Spalding is deeply rooted in jazz culture and always wants to shift boundaries and broaden genres. This has resulted in five Grammy Awards, a White House performance and playing at the Academy Awards as well as the Nobel Prizes ceremony. As artist in residence she will perform on Friday with pianist Fred Hersch, with whom she released an album in January. With her 'Songwrights Apothecary Lab hosts a Co-Musicking Lab' project she will give three special workshops on Saturday. On Sunday, Spalding will perform 'Off-Brand godds' with New York dance company Antonio Brown Dance.
