First acts for North Sea Jazz 2019

Today the organization announces the first 35 names of artists performing at the 44th edition of the NN North Sea Jazz Festival.

Three of today’s stars Chance The Rapper, urban singer Janelle Monáe, and neo-blues and soul singer Rag‘n’Bone Man will be performing at the festival, as well as jazz super stars Diana Krall and Jamie Cullum, musical centipede Joe Jackson and the legendary group Toto. Ms. Lauryn Hill will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her solo debut ‘ The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’.

The festival also announces the legendary Burt Bacharach, vocalist Bobby McFerrin ‘Gimme 5’, and renowned pianist Abdullah Ibrahim & Ekaya, next to the top of today’s jazz: Danilo Perez - Avishai Cohen (trumpet) - Chris Potter Quintet, Joshua Redman - Still Dreaming, Bobo Stenson Trio, Bob Reynolds Group, Ambrose Akinmusire Origami Harvest and upcoming talents such as Christian Sands Trio and Shai Maestro a.o.. Also joining the bill are the celebrated Kamasi Washington and the top of latin jazz, among which Michel Camilo Quartet & New Cool Collective Horns, Chucho Valdés - Jazz Batá, and freah Grammy nominees Orquesta Akokán.  

John Zorn will perform a special marathon concert which features 14 different ensembles performing over 50 different compositions from Zorn’s expansive book of music The Bagatelles.

Next to super stars Chance The Rapper, Janelle Monáe and Ms. Lauryn Hill new and upcoming talents such as H.E.R., Jacob Banks, The Internet, Lawrence and trap house jazz performer Masego will be playing at North Sea Jazz. Further confirmed artists are Jonathan Jeremiah, The War and Treaty, MY BABY, ZAZ, The California Honeydrops, Marc Broussard, and Young Gun Silver Fox.
