Her voice has featured on other people's albums for years, such as Drake, Ed Sheeran, A$AP Rocky, and Mark Ronson. In addition to those names however, Yebba has also been working together with jazz pianist Robert Glasper since 2019. Anyone who hears her perform live immediately understands why all those artists were looking for her involvement in their work. The singer and songwriter from West Memphis, Arkansas was raised in her father's church, and those gospel roots are always just beneath the surface. Her debut album Dawn (2021), which she recorded with Questlove, James Poyser and Pino Palladino among others, represented a major mourning process following the death of her mother. It was unanimously hailed as one of the most remarkable soul albums of that year. Now in 2026, Yebba makes a return with Jean, named after her late grandmother. It’s an intimate and versatile album, with a mixture of gospel, delta blues, folk and R&B. There’s always a touch of jazz in the mix too, with accompanists such as drummer Nate Smith and pianist James Francies.
