Art Poster Competition
A permanent feature of the art exhibitions at the festival entries of the Art Poster Competition among students. This year's winner is Famke van Thull.
Every year, North Sea Jazz holds a design competition among students at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. The work of all finalists is exhibited in Ahoy; in this way, the festival aims to provide young talent with a platform to showcase their work.
Famke van Thull's winning poster perfectly embodies what the festival stands for: an explosion of styles, influences, and energy. The layered visual language, which almost bursts apart, reflects the richness of the program – from jazz to everything surrounding it. Color, movement, and rhythm give the design an irresistible dynamic. Especially in this anniversary year, it feels particularly fitting: this is no look back, but an exuberant celebration of everything the festival has been for 50 years.
The winning poster design is for sale at the merchandise stands at the festival. All art posters are on show on the third floor outside the Missouri. For an overview of all art posters click here.
