Dua Saleh, who was born in Sudan and grew up in the United States, is able to flit effortlessly between music, poetry and film. Identifying as non-binary, they fuse indie, R&B and electronic pop with threads from Sudanese folk and UK dance. The albumI Should Call Them from 2024 signalled Saleh’s breakthrough to an international audience, and its successor Of Earth & Wires in 2026 consolidated their position as one of the most distinctive voices in alternative pop and R&B. On that record, there are collaborations with Bon Iver and poet aja monet, among others. In addition to music, Saleh is also known for their recurring role in the Netflix series Sex Education. Their songs explore themes such as identity, migration, love and spirituality. Live, this translates into intense, genre-transcending performances where electronica, soul and poetry drift together hypnotically.
