In case you hadn't heard, the West Coast has been located on the Dutch IJssel river for a few years now. From the old city of Deventer, Boogie Monster transports the listener to a range of sunny sounds you’d normally associate with California acts of the 1970s. The soulful vocals of Nolle Groen and the warm, swirling Hammond sounds of Henk Hulzebosch are at times beautifully complemented by lush horn and string arrangements. They introduced their debut album Overnight (2021) during a livestream show, with DeWolff as special guests. Just like their illustrious compatriots, Boogie Monster declared their love for the American rock, blues and soul classics from better days. Total artistic freedom is the ground rule. It’s also the reason for them recording the second album Goosebumps (2024) in their self-built Mermaid Studio. Outside of the studio however, it’s mainly on stages where Boogie Monster have forged their solid live reputation. With the addition of flaming guitar virtuoso Jim Zwinselman (Bökkers, Strand of Oaks), the group often lifts its live jams to a fiery Allman Brothers level.
