Rotterdam-born singer-songwriter Naomi Sharon grew up in a musical family. Whenever she came home from school, there would always be music playing: from Sting and Sade to Eva Cassidy and Marcus Miller. Her father is a producer and DJ, her mother and aunt sang, and her uncle played several instruments. As a child, she was often brought along to jam sessions with the same uncle and aunt by her parents. Sharon basically knew from an early age that she wanted a career in music. She sang in musical productions such as Dream Girls, The Lion King and TINA: de Tina Turner Musical, where she learned a lot, but also almost ruined her voice. After a vocal cord operation, Sharon changed direction and embarked on a solo career. She recorded a number of singles, and caught the attention of none other than Drake, who invited her to his studio in Toronto, and put out her debut album Obsidian on his OVO Sound label in 2023.
