Saxophonist Tineke Postma (1978) is one of the few Dutch jazz musicians who pops up regularly in the International Critics Poll of DownBeat magazine. Her music is sometimes called post-bop, but that description is really too limiting for her free and open approach. Postma received the prestigious Buma Boy Edgar Prize in 2015, and in March 2021, she was awarded the status of European Musician of the Year by the Académie du Jazz in France. She’s an artist with unshakeable drive, who released the album Voya in 2025, the ninth under her own name. The album title refers to 'voyage', 'voice' and Oya (the Yoruba goddess of wind, breath and transformation); a journey through wind, the voice and the soul. It also features the voice of renowned American jazz vocalist Theo Bleckmann (1966). The remarkably international Tineke Postma Group also consists of David Dorůžka (guitar, Prague), Felix Henkelhausen (double bass, Berlin - who will be subbing for Robert Landfermann), and Tristan Renfrow (drums, Amsterdam).
