A fantastic voice, soft as velvet but with a raw edge, and enormous power and depth. It’s no wonder that Celeste won the Rising Star award at the BRIT Awards at the end of 2019 and was named the BBC’s Sound of 2020 as well. And all that while she had not yet released her debut album. This put some pressure on the singer-songwriter in her search for her own sound. A year later she’d found it and released the album Not Your Muse, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. The single This Is Who I Am was used as the soundtrack for the Sky TV drama The Day Of The Jackal. Celeste has already been compared to Adele and Amy Winehouse. She herself mentions Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Kendrick Lamar as influences. This summer, the British singer will come to the festival for the first time, and you can judge for yourself.
