Sanne Sanne is proof that the Dutch jazz scene stands as one of the most prominent within the genre. Singer, multi-instrumentalist and photographer Sanne Huijbregts and her band won the Dutch Jazz Competition last year, which had the jury raving about their interplay and strong compositions. Those elements had already been picked up on the year before, when the group released its debut album Mountain Child. During the first tour, visitors to leading Dutch stages such as Oerol, TivoliVredenburg and the Bimhuis could experience how the band shakes up a seductive cocktail of indie rock, folk and jazz, with a strong focus on grooves. Their additional appeal is that Sanne Sanne stays off the beaten instrumental path for its collective sound by incorporating lesser-known instruments such as the kalimba, the glockenspiel and the xylosynth: an electric vibraphone. Adventurous, musically versatile and contemporary, Sanne Sanne has everything that helps to make Dutch jazz so good.
