Several years ago, Pat Metheny put a new spin on the classic jazz trio with Side-Eye. In this ever-changing lineup, the star guitarist surrounds himself with young, adventurous musicians, whom he challenges to approach his music anew each time. The experiment quickly grew into a significant phase in his impressive career, in which he has earned over twenty Grammy Awards. For his latest album, Side-Eye III+ (2026), Metheny draws on the energy of his early bands. It’s the first release on his own label, Uniquity Music. On Side-Eye III+, we once again hear drummer Joe Dyson and keyboardist Chris Fishman. In addition, the bandleader invited several guest musicians to join the lineup, along with an a cappella ensemble led by Mark Kibble (Take 6). To bring that fuller sound to life, Metheny is bringing percussionist and vocalist Leonard Patton and bassist Jermaine Paul along on the tour.
