The phenomenon that is Nile Rodger needs no introduction. The leader of CHIC not only co-wrote the disco classic Le Freak, but did much more: he wrote We Are Family for Sister Sledge and produced mega-hits for David Bowie (Let’s Dance), Madonna (Like A Virgin), Duran Duran (The Reflex), and many others. He was also present at the birth of hip-hop in the late 1970s when The Sugar Hill Gang sampled his song Good Times for their hit Rapper’s Delight. The singer, composer, guitarist, and producer is a welcome guest at the festival and last visited Rotterdam in 2022, bringing the house down at the Nile. That same year, he collaborated with Beyoncé on her album Renaissance, which won two Grammys in 2023, for Best Electronic Dance Album and Best R&B Song (Cuff It). Rodgers, now 73, hosts the popular Apple Music podcast Deep Hidden Meaning, in which he interviews famous songwriters.
