Emma Rawicz is known for being one of the most creative and exciting artists within the contemporary jazz scene. This British saxophonist and composer made her debut at the age of 21 on the renowned ACT label, and has gone on to perform on Europe's most important stages and festivals as an artist and bandleader. The music Rawicz and her all-star band create is distinctive and compelling, due to her melodic compositions, catchy grooves and exciting group dynamic. The sound of the saxophone is an essential part of her artistic identity: from the warm, rich tones she uses in ballads, to volcanic blasts in rousing pieces played in complex time signatures with a rhythmic drive. Rawicz has chromesthesia, a sensory trait whereby she experiences certain sounds as colors. On her second album CHROMA, every song carries the name of a certain color, and her latest album INKYRA (2025) also carries a multi-colored musical palette.
