Genuineness is a pretty overused term within the music industry, but it really is something Annie & The Caldwells have in abundance. They are genuinely a family band, they genuinely hail from Mississippi, and they genuinely create music about their lives. Above all though, they create unadulterated soul together, full of incredible musicianship and tons of energy. The incredible Annie Caldwell is accompanied by her husband Willie Joe Caldwell Sr. (guitar), and their sons Willie jr. (bass) and Abel Aquirius (drums), with daughters Deborah and Anjessica and goddaughter Toni providing backing vocals. Annie & The Caldwells started out as a gospel band, but daughter Deborah has added other flavors to the music through her own influences. Deborah proves she’s more than able to carry a song herself with the solid, super funky single Wrong, which has her singing an affair out of her system in a heartbreaking manner – over a slap bass groove. Annie and her husband have been playing together for about half a century, and are now being rewarded with an international breakthrough for their album Can't Lose My (Soul).
