Renowned percussionist Gerardo Rosales and prominent pianist, conductor, and arranger Guillaume Marcenac join forces for their album Charanjazz. It’s a project bursting with energy, thanks to spicy dance rhythms such as the mambo and cha-cha-cha, as well as the joropo and guaguancó. During a performance by this ensemble, you will feel transported to Latin America. Exhilarating percussion, virtuoso piano, vocals, and violin; it is hard to sit still. Originally from Venezuela, Rosales has been professionally active for 45 years and is now one of the figureheads of the Dutch Latin scene. Classically trained Marcenac hails from France, but has also settled in the Netherlands. He is a striking figure in the music world due to his innovative artistic style and dynamic playing. For 20 years, he has toured prestigious jazz festivals and concert halls with major international stars and groups. The band also includes singer and violinist Myrthe van de Weetering, who performed at the festival with her own band in 2019.
