For more than forty years, iconic British DJ and radio presenter Gilles Peterson has played a decisive role in identifying and shaping musical developments within the international club and music scene. With jazz as a foundation, he developed an eclectic, characteristic style where diverse influences such as soul, funk, hip-hop, electronic music and world music ease together. Peterson also fulfils an important role as a curator and label boss, with his label Talkin' Loud launching acts such as Incognito, Galliano and Young Disciples in the early 90s. Through his current label Brownswood Recordings and the festival We Out Here, he continues to support young talent and innovative movements within music. As a result, Peterson is not only viewed as a tastemaker, but also as a key figure for connecting different musical worlds. His experience, extensive musical knowledge, and feel for the right dancefloor vibes make him a DJ who doesn’t just spin records – he tells a story.
