Just how many musicians can claim to have recorded sixty albums? Snijders has done just that, and is as versatile as he is productive. For decades now he has been providing new impulses to Surinamese and Dutch jazz with his funky flute, and the countless other instruments he masters. He has played with everyone from Willem Breuker and Boy Edgar, to Giovanca and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, has toured all over the world, and has of course been a regular at North Sea Jazz. Now the Dutch master of world jazz is back to celebrate his 75th birthday. A Bigi Yari, as it is known in Suriname: a big birthday party. Snijders is backed by his solid Ronald Snijders Band, with musicians from Suriname, Curaçao, Brazil and the Netherlands. As we’ve come to expect from Snijders, it will be a surefire musical feast filled with funk, kaseko, jazz, power and love.
