At the end of 2025, versatile guitarist Ed Verhoeff released a remarkable album, Dear Fathers. It’s the fifth album he’s released under his own name, as well as putting out twenty albums as a co-leader. After playing in a number of small lineups, Verhoeff is now setting out with a solid quartet. In this band, everything comes together, allowing Verhoeff to showcase his versatility and musical skills. On Dear Fathers he plays compositions that are a very personal statement; highlighting a father-child relationship, and featuring pianist Marcus Olgers, bassist Mark Haanstra and drummer Yoràn Vroom. During his long career, Verhoeff has worked and toured with such greats as John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum, Philip Catherine, Ivan Lins, Hein van de Geyn, Angelo Verploegen, Ilja Reijngoud, the Dudok String Quartet, the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw and the Metropole Orchestra. He is currently a teacher at the Conservatory Codarts Rotterdam and at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Tilburg.
