Pianist, composer, and producer Robert Glasper is one of the most influential jazz musicians of this century. With his three groundbreaking Black Radio albums (2012, 2013, and 2022), he demonstrated how jazz, hip-hop, and R&B can enrich each other, an approach that has earned him multiple Grammy Awards and nominations. Glasper has collaborated with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu, Herbie Hancock, and Common, and is equally at home in jazz clubs as he is in the pop and hip-hop worlds. In this electrified show, Glasper explores the farthest corners of his musical universe. He does so with a quartet that includes DJ Jahi Sundance on the turntables. The band blends live jazz with beats, samples, and electronics. The result is a layered, groove-oriented sound in which improvisation and hip-hop production flow seamlessly into one another. Glasper thus proves once again what jazz can sound like in the 21st century: open, rhythmic, and deeply rooted in contemporary Black music.
