Pianist and producer Kiefer belongs to the generation of musicians able to effortlessly interweave jazz, hip-hop and electronic music. Kiefer Shackelford grew up in a jazz-loving family in the United States, studied jazz piano at UCLA, where the legendary Low End Theory club nights in Los Angeles – known known for highlighting experimental hip-hop and electronic music – served as inspiration for his beats. This background led to him developing a recognizable style where rich piano tones and crisp beats come together. Through albums such as Happysad (2018) and When There's Love Around (2021), he managed to create a solid reputation within the international jazz and beat community. His music sounds both introspective and optimistic at the same time, with melodies that linger and softly nudging grooves. In addition to his solo material, Kiefer has worked with artists such as Kaytranada and Drake, and co-produced Anderson .Paak's Grammy-winning album Ventura (2019). His performances drift in a smooth, hypnotic flow, where improvisation meets tight beats.
