Three legends from three generations on one stage. With nine Grammys to his name, bassist Christian McBride (1972) has been one of the most influential figures in jazz for years. Pianist Kenny Barron (1943) is a NEA Jazz Master, he has been inducted into the DownBeat Hall of Fame, and grew up in the company of Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz. The youngest of the trio is guitarist Julian Lage (1987); a child prodigy who, as an adult, has grown into one of the most versatile and lyrical guitarists jazz has to offer today. All three have frequently appeared at the festival: Barron performed there as early as the 1980s, McBride was Artist in Residence in 2014, and Lage won the Paul Acket Award ‘Artist Deserving Wider Recognition’ in 2019. Together, they form a trio that creates beautiful combinations: experience and curiosity, tradition and innovation. With these three greats, every note hits home.
