As the daughter of Ernie Isley (The Isley Brothers, Isley-Jasper-Isley) and granddaughter of an opera singer, Alex Isley was destined for a career in music. She gave her first performance at the age of six and, from the age of twelve, she received classical training from her grandmother. Born in New Jersey, Isley grew up in Los Angeles and studied jazz at UCLA. She later bought a laptop and taught herself how to produce music. In 2012, the singer released her debut EP The Love Art/Memoirs, followed by the albums Dreams In Analog (2013), LUXURY (2015), The Beauty Of Everything, Part 1 (2018) and The Beauty Of Everything, Part 2 (2019). Her breakthrough came in 2020 with the single Good & Plenty, a collaboration with Mageso and Jack Dino. In 2024, she was nominated for a Grammy in the categories Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for Back To Love, a collaboration with Robert Glasper and SiR.
