With his Acoustic Piano Trio, Robert Glasper returns to where it all began. Before gaining worldwide recognition with his Black Radio projects, he made a name for himself as a jazz pianist with his acoustic trio. He broke through in 2005 with the album Canvas on the renowned Blue Note label. Now, Glasper is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album by touring with that lineup once again – a rare opportunity, as he seldom performs in an acoustic setting these days. Together with a bassist and drummer, Glasper revisits the intimate, improvisational playing style that started him on his journey, but now with the experience and musical depth of a career filled with collaborations in jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. With his acoustic trio, you might just hear Glasper at his purest: as a jazz pianist, improviser, and storyteller at the piano.
