It was absolutely a case of ‘love at first sound’ between Snarky Puppy and the Metropole Orkest. Their first joint album Sylva from 2015 immediately earned them a Grammy Award, and is considered a modern classic of orchestral jazz. Every time they share the stage together, musical magic permeates the air. The American collective formed around bassist Michael League is known for its groundbreaking mix of jazz, funk, soul and world music, with the Metropole Orkest lending a layer of symphonic richness. Ten years after Sylva, the two ensembles found each other again, resulting in the ambitious Somni in 2025: a large-scale orchestral production inspired by dreams (the word somni means 'dream' in Catalan). The combination of dozens of gifted musicians, combined with the characteristic energy of Snarky Puppy creates an impressive sound palette where improvisation and orchestral prowess hybridize. This may appear to be something out of a dream, but Snarky Puppy and the Metropole Orkest make it all a vivid reality.
