Brazilian rhythms, warm harmonies and entwined voices: Cantorias takes listeners to distant places and forgotten times. The group consists of four outstanding singers: Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103), Anna Serierse (Kika Sprangers), Femke Smit (Mike del Ferro) and Nina Rompe (Kora Ensemble). Together they perform close harmony from Brazil. The repertoire consists of traditional protest songs and classic sambas. They also perform their own songs that have a nostalgic touch of the 70s and 80s, but with a fresh approach. “Cantoria” means singing and vernacularly, “Cantorias” describes an exuberant party where everyone comes together to sing. The quartet is accompanied by four fantastic musicians who are completely at home in traditional Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova as well as música popular brasileira. In 2024, Cantorias won an Edison in the National Vocal category.
