Although their debut album carries the title Quiet Music For Young People (2023), more mature music lovers who are young at heart are equally welcomed by Dana & Alden. The name of the release was a nod to the soundtrack of the youth of its creators, brothers Dana (drums) and Alden (saxophone) McWayne, and their musings about their youth, with endless summer days and rainy winter evenings jamming in small-scale jazz clubs. Their influences range from Ahmad Jahmal to Bad Bunny - all stirred up in a lean-back lounge atmosphere, which is wonderfully soothing without slipping into the realms of elevator music (even though they actually performed in an elevator once!). Their single Let's Go To Trader Joe's went viral, and the song Dragon Fly forms the soundtrack to almost 300,000 TikTok creations. Originally starting out as a duo, the band now consists of six multi-instrumentalists who, as their second album Coyote, You're My Star (2024) proves, can effortlessly connect jazzy melodies with indie-oriented sounds.
