Victor Ray sees himself as ‘a creative person in the rawest sense’. His first steps on the creative path could definitely be considered raw: as a busker, he learned how to quickly captivate people who would normally walk along ice-cold streets briskly in their efforts to get home. However, his soulful voice and charisma managed to thaw even the frostiest passer-by. Those street performances also forced him to hone his technique, as he had to drown out the constant din of the city. Ray was born in Uganda and raised in Newcastle, and had learned at a young age not to shy away from any challenge. Coming from a working-class background, and raised by a single immigrant mother, he always felt that he had something to prove to the world. He tells his life stories through his compelling songs that are streamed by an audience of millions, leading this talented 24-year-old to now be able to exchange the streets for sold-out venues.
