Ghanaian-Dutch multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Ankomah grew up in southeast Amsterdam where he coped with the challenges of his youth by pursuing his passion for music. In church he learned to play piano, drums and guitar. He discovered that in addition to making music, his budding talents included composing and producing. So, as Bnnyhunna he worked with Akwasi, Rimon, (Yung) Nnelg and top American vocalist José James. The 27-year-old artist released his debut album last year: Echoes Of Prayers. On it, he draws inspiration from West African Afrobeat in the spirit of Fela Kuti as well as from melodious raps by Pharrell Williams and funk jazz from London’s hippest neighborhoods. His genre-transcending work, in which poetry, photography and video also play a major role, has brought him to festivals such as Down The Rabbit Hole and NN North Sea Jazz – this year once again! A great opportunity to re-explore or discover Bnnyhunna’s thought-provoking, musical world.
