Anyone who wants to hear what the future of jazz guitar sounds like can turn to Julian Lage. This crowd favorite, who gained fame as a child prodigy at the age of eight, is conquering the jazz world with his unprecedented technique and daring. At the age of eighteen he was already on stage at the Grammy Awards. Shortly after graduating from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2008, he got a recording contract with the famous Blue Note label. His first album, Sounding Point, immediately earned him a Grammy nomination. Since then, he’s been traveling the world continuously, often with his regular trio with Jorge Roeder on bass and Dave King on drums. He has now recorded four Blue Note albums, the last of which, Speak To Me, was released last year. Audiences and critics alike see the album as a masterpiece on which Lage shows that he can effortlessly cross the boundaries of jazz and explore the realms of folk, country, blues and gospel.
