The North Sea Jazz Art Shows are marked by their wide variety of artworks and photographs by artists inspired by music. This year, the exhibition focuses on photos of bass players taken by Silver Camera winners Paul Bergen, Andreas Terlaak, Peter van Breukelen and Raphael Sprenger, among others. Loe Beerens is exhibiting photographs from his recent book Three Songs, No Flash and Hans Budding is showing the best of his jazz concert photos from the past 25 years.
In addition, this year there are remarkable works by international artists on show and for sale. The French artist Olivier Boissinot paints jazz scenes in distinct colors that are alive with the ambience of Mediterranean jazz life. In his paintings, Dietrich RĂ¼nger from Germany shows that he is inspired by the album covers of the famous Blue Note label. With his layered portraits the multi-talented Albert de Bruin, who, as a singer, reached the final of Holland's Got Talent, creates a lovely contrast to the abstract works of Mijpe. Last year she burst onto the list of the most valued Dutch artists with a bullet. The work of Marco Goudriaan is also striking: he burns portraits of jazz musicians onto wooden panels.
