At a young age, Silje Nergaard was already convinced she wouldbecome a singer. At the age of sixteen the dream of the Norwegiancame true, when she performed on a jazz stage for the first time.Since that time, Nergaard has released eleven albums and workedtogether with renowned artists like Al Jarreau and Pat Metheny. Inher early years, Nergaard was mainly inspired by Joni Mitchell andthis can clearly be heard. Just like the American, Nergaard singswith a beautiful and, most of all, crystal-clear voice, that oftencreates emotionally charged moments and makes her performancesfragile and memorable. On her latest record, A Thousand TrueStories (2009), another dream came true for the 43-year-oldvocalist, because she was able to work together with her favoritearranger-conductor Vince Mendoza and our own Metropole StringOrchestra. At North Sea Jazz, the Norwegian diva and the orchestrawill give an encore and perform live.
