NRC Jazz Café – Talking Jazz In the NRC Jazz Café you can learn more about the jazz stars visiting the festival by attending clinics, Q&As and the famed DownBeat Blindfold Tests. Journalists from NRC Handelsblad. media partner of the festival, will interview various artists.
NRC meets The Artist
During NRC meets The Artist, you can enjoy special performances given by various artists. The interview before a mini-concert will give you greater insight into the music that the artists will then perform. Amanda Kuyper and Yael Vinckx, who are both renowned Dutch journalists, will interview several artists on the spot.
Q&As moderated by Dan Ouellette
A younger and a more experienced musician will be interviewed by Dan Ouellette, editor at DownBeat Magazine on a specific topic. Several other jazz musicians from New York, who will form a panel, will also involve themselves in the conversation. The program includes, among others:

DownBeat Blindfold Test Live
The DownBeat Blindfold Test is one of the most enjoyable permanent features in the American jazz magazine DownBeat. Well-known jazz musicians listen to jazz pieces without knowing who is playing or what the recordings are. They are then questioned about the title of the piece, the band members, the soloists, the period and other facts. Dee Dee Bridgewater will undergo the DownBeat Blindfold Test, live at the North Sea Jazz Festival on Saturday July 11 from 10.15 to 11.15 p.m.
