Introducing: Krystle Warren

23/06/2010

An extra performance has been scheduled for the Friday program. Krystle Warren has been added to the lineup, to fill up the vacancy left by the Playing for Change Band

Going from a street musician with no formal education to a performer warming up the crowd for Rufus Wainwright, Erykah Badu and Jools Holland; who doesn’t dream of such a career? Krystle Warren started out in music by playing pop and grunge, despite her African-American roots (check YouTube for her version of “Eleanor Rigby”). She soon followed her heart and started a musical career in the streets and squares of Kansas City, where she grew up. From there, she went to the streets of New York and Paris. Her dark voice appeared to have a special attraction, and not just to passersby in these world cities. Soon, she found herself a record company and accompanied the artists mentioned above on stage. There, Warren is entirely her own self, with her jeans, cowboy boots and guitar. Her presence doesn’t detract from her overwhelming vocal prowess. On her debut album Circles, she is accompanied by The Faculty, during the festival she will accompany herself on her guitar. A contemporary troubadour with one heck of a voice.
