Dutch Jazz Competition & European Jazz Competition

In 2007 the Dutch Jazz Competition was superseded by the European Jazz Competition, but is back again in 2008!
The Dutch Jazz Competition, which was brought into being on request of the Dutch jazz musicians themselves, is an initiative by the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Nederlandse Toonkunstenaarsbond, the NPS, the NVPI and the former Conamus.

The European Jazz Competition (EJC) is a collaborative project of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the North Sea Jazz Festival and the European Jazz Competition Foundation. Through its network of European public broadcasting companies, the EBU produces the qualifying rounds and the selection of four finalists. The finals at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2007 were organized by the European Jazz Competition Foundation. The EBU functioned as a media partner, as it arranged several European radio broadcasts of the finals. The winner of the EBU European Jazz Competition 2007 was Empirical. This is why in 2008 they will give a full-fledged performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Jules Deelder will be hosting the Dutch Jazz Competition.
