Please find hereafter a summary of the most important practical information regarding the North Sea Jazz Festival 2009.

Did you know that the North Sea Jazz Festival is the biggest jazz festival in the world? Just about every genre is represented there – from traditional New Orleans jazz, swing, bop and free jazz, to fusion, avant-garde jazz and electronic jazz. And it doesn’t stop at jazz; blues, gospel, funk, soul, hip hop, R&B, world beat and Latin enthusiasts have a great time as well. In short, the North Sea Jazz Festival is a multi-faceted event that attracts between 60,000 and 70,000 visitors each year, from countries all over the world.

Dates: Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2009

Festival edition: 34nd

Time: Friday and Saturday: 4.30 pm - 2 am, Sunday 2.30 pm - 12 pm

Venue: Ahoy, Ahoy-weg 10, Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Frequency: annually, each 2nd full weekend in July (Friday included)

Audience attendance: about 23,500 visitors daily

Musical genres: Jazz and Jazz-related music like blues, funk, soul, Hip Hop, Latin, R&B

Number of stages: 15, in use simultaneously

Number of acts: approximately 180 (1,500 musicians)

Award presentation: Paul Acket Awards

Exhibitions: Jazz photos, drawings and paintings by nationally and internationally renowned artists

Wheel chairs: the whole venue is accesible by wheel chair
