Angie Stone launches North Sea Jazz 2008

It has been a tradition for many years that each North Sea Jazz Festival is opened with the Corporate Express Midsummer Jazz Gala. This year’s edition of the gala will present Angie Stone. The gala evening will take place on Thursday 10 July 2008 and ticket sale starts on 12th of April. Angie Stone will also preform during the festival weekend, on 11, 12 and 13 July.

Together with singers Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, Angie Stone is held responsible for the revival of soul music toward the end of the nineties: music, inspired by gospel and blues without a lot to-do, that is guaranteed to move you. After having been a background musician for several years, for example with her ex-boyfriend D’Angelo, the New York diva became a hit with her first album Black Diamond in 1999. Her memorable debut in the Amsterdam pop temple Paradiso in the same year touched the hearts of many. In 2007 Stone stayed true to her roots; her most recent album, Art of Love & War, was released on the prestigious Stax label with good reason.
