Paul Acket Award 2010

“Artist Deserving Wider Recognition” The North Sea Jazz Festival presents the Paul Acket Award every year to an artist who deserves to be recognized for his/her exceptional musicianship.
Through this prize, the organizers of the North Sea Jazz Festival draw attention to talented jazz musicians who are just starting out on their career. A small group of jazz pundits already knows their name, but they have not yet broken through to a larger audience.
The North Sea Jazz Festival helps them in this, and rewards their talent with a trophy, a wonderful cash prize and a performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Are you curious about the talents of this year’s winner?
Then make sure you don’t miss the performance on Saturday in the Yukon hall!
The winner of the Paul Acket Award 2010 ‘Artist Deserving Wider Recognition’ is the 27 years old Christian Scott. He will be performing at Saturday 10 July in the Yukon.
Paul Acket Award 'Special Appreciation' voor Quincy Jones
The organizers of the North Sea Jazz Festival have awarded the Paul Acket Award “Special Appreciation” to the legendary Quincy Jones. He will receive the award on Sunday July 11 at the North Sea Jazz Festival. It is awarded by the festival organizers to a person who has won his spurs in the realm of jazz, in the broadest sense of the genre.
For over 60 years, Quincy Jones has been active in the music industry, both on the stage as well as behind the scenes. Jones has been working as a composer, producer, artist, arranger and bandleader. He is a master in combining various musical styles. By ingeniously fusing genres like soul, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and classical, African and Brazilian music, he created new standards for contemporary music. He is also the famed producer of Michael Jacksons’s album Thriller, the best-selling album of all times.
Quincy Jones will be interviewed in the Darling on Sunday July 11 at 5.15 p.m. by Grammy Award-winning bassist and composer Christian Mc Bride for ‘The Lowdown: Converstation with Christian’, for SIRIUS XM’s Real Jazz Channel.
