About Christian Prommer's Drumlesson
Alongside working as a DJ and beats producer for Fauna Flash,
the Trüby Trio and the DJ collective Voom Voom, among others,
German-born Christian Prommer is also a drummer. He recognized the
great challenge of uniting his love of dance and jazz by dressing a
number of well-known and lesser-known dance classics in jazz
clothing and using real instruments. Pieces like the Kraftwerk
classic Trans Europe Express as well as compositions by Daft Punk,
Masters at Work and Josh Wink. On his album Christian Prommer´s
Drumlesson Vol. 1, dance beats and techno are transformed into
hot-blooded jazz dance with Prommer driving the beat in a jazz band
with acoustic double bass, violins, piano and bongos instead of an
electronic bass, drums and beats. In realizing this project,
Prommer gathered together the crème de la crème of the German jazz
scene including Roberto di Gioia on keyboard. Di Gioia supported
him in the transformation of dance to jazz in terms of vision and
atmosphere which is one of the reasons for the project's great
success. On the follow-up album Vol. 2 that will be released this
year, Prommer worked in reverse by rearranging classic jazz pieces
to make them even more danceable.
