About Melody Gardot
The American Melody Gardot is "a singer with a history". When
she was nineteen, she was seriously injured in a tragic accident.
It was unclear for a long time whether she would ever walk again.
During her rehabilitation a doctor encouraged her to stimulate her
brain in a positive way by picking up an old hobby of hers as
therapy: music. Gardot, who had learned to play the piano as a
child, started writing songs. Eventually this led to the remarkable
debut Worrisome Heart. With her sleepy, warm voice, Gardot comes
close to the light, slightly hoarse sound of Norah Jones. She also
sounds similar to Madeleine Peyroux and Eva Cassidy. Her jazzy
songs about unattainable lovers, spineless exes and infidelity by
night are simply beautiful and will captivate the audience.
